Hearing aids have come a long way in the last few decades, including recently. There are always new developments being made, and something that we can do now that we couldn’t before was connect your devices to other devices. However, sometimes things don’t go exactly right and you’re going to need to troubleshoot here. More often than not it’s a pretty simple fix, and that’s what we’re going to be taking a look at today. If you are interested in finding out more, keep reading.

Audio Only in One Ear

If you are only getting the audio in one ear, there could be a syncing problem with your hearing aids and the Bluetooth setting. The problem could be that you are too far from the source of the audio, so try moving closer to it if you can. You can try to reboot the hearing aid that isn’t working properly by turning it off and then switching it back on. It’s a simple fix, but one that generally works. Or, if this doesn’t work, then you can disconnect your hearing aid entirely and reconnect. If this doesn’t work either, then try restarting everything completely.

Interference or feedback

There are times where you will experience interference or feedback from your Bluetooth hearing aids. If this happens, it could be because you are standing too close to an internet connection. More often than not this is the Wi-Fi router, so if you move away from the source then this should stop.

If this doesn’t work, then you should consider changing the batteries. Low batteries have been known to contribute to the failure of the wireless connections, so make sure that you have a new set of batteries before you try again.

Connecting to an app

Seeing as it is so common now for hearing aids to have connectivity abilities, the majority of hearing aid manufacturers will have an app that you can control your hearing aids from. This app should allow you to change your settings and generally control your hearing experience, but to be able to do this you need to be able to connect.

If you are struggling to get your hearing aid to connect to an app, then you should try turning them off and on again. Again, simple but effective and should fix the issue if it’s a basic problem. You may find that you need to turn the paired device off and on again just to be on the safe side. Sometimes updating the app can be the problem. If there is an update needed in the software then this has been known to cause connectivity issues.

If you’ve run through the most common causes and remedies for Bluetooth or connectivity issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to your audiologist for advice or a more thorough diagnosis. Hearing aids are comprised of intricate technology and sometimes a professional’s expertise is needed!
